Transformation of a 1950 duplex into a single family house.

Living on the first floor, the owners wished to recuperate the second floor apartment and transform the building into a single family house.
The couple wanted to create and open-air living space on the ground floor, including a staircase that would be as transparent as possible while being perfectly safe for young kids. Accordingly, perforated steel panels form a closed cage in which the stairwell unfolds itself. Two technical volumes covered with cherry wood veneer contain the cloakroom and WC and organize the loft space into distinct zones.
